Snack Time: Chobani Greek Yogurt Review

I may have mentioned once or twice or a bajillion times that I have a love affair with yogurt. Yogurt is good for you, yogurt doesn’t complain when you ask it to make adjustments, yogurt is smooth and delicious. If I could date yogurt I might. So, when I got an email from a publicist for Chobani Greek Yogurt asking whether I’d like to try it, I said sure. Let me clarify, that I’m contacted a few times a month by publicists for different foods and most often from diet plans, and most of the time I decline because, well, I’m not really promoting any sort of dieting here; I just believe in living a healthy balanced life and eating food that’s good for you but also non abrasive to the world. Okay, clarifying done.

I received my handy-dandy refrigerated package with 6 cases of yogurt in it, strawberry, blueberry, peach, vanilla, fat-free plain, and 2% plain. I tried all of them except the blueberry, which I’m allergic to. I agree that blueberries are a strange allergy, but there’s really nothing I can do about it, so you’re on your own in regard to blueberry my friends. So what’s the verdict? It’s really good. Chobani’s fat free yogurts are definitely richer and creamier than Fage’s, which seems to be the standard by which all Greek yogurts are compared to right now. It’s an organic product which is sort of my standard for approval and blog mention. Gold star in regard to taste for Chobani! Okay, but here’s the bad news, it’s expensive. I went to my local grocery store to check out the cost of these adorable little yogurt singles and it was $1.99 per 6 oz. container, which means this creamy refreshing yogurt is a once in a while treat and not a daily addition to my diet. I like yogurt, but I like paying my rent too. So, if you’re in the mood for a treat, I highly suggest this yogurt. If you’re on a budget, I still recommend using the ole’ coffee filter, plain yogurt trick to strain your regular yogurt into a creamier consistency.

This is a new entrant here in PA. We get it for $1:15 at our local Giant. I am a vegetarian and it has NO gelatin. Yaay!

The only reason I pay for Greek yogurt is that it has soo much less sugar than other brands.

I love greek yogurt because it is so high in protein, and I'm really into fitness so it's a nice way to get some good protein in there. Also, I don't see any indication of it being organic on the packaging, what gives?

It's not organic! They mention that it is from milk free of synthetic hormones, but there is not mention of antibiotics or what the cows were fed.

They do give 10% of profit to charity, so props for that.

I found this site when googling Chobani. This is the best yogurt on the planet. Seriously. It's expensive (I'm in PA, too, and also shop at Giant.), but SO DELICIOUS. I eat like 4 containers a day.

BE AWARE THAT THIS PRODUCT IS NOT ORGANIC..I CALLED WITH QUESTIONS..WHEN ASKED IF THE PRODUCT WAS ANTIBIOTIC FREE, I WAS TOLD THAT "THEIR SUPPLIER SAYS THEY ARE " WHEN I ASKED WHO THEIR SUPPLIER IS, I WAS TOLD "THAT INFORMATION CANNOT BE DISCLOSED"!!.. WHAT ABOUT PESTICIDES AND HERBICIDES IN THE FEED? I WAS TOLD THAT "THEY DO NOT COME THROUGH TO THE MILK!! ALL IN ALL, I WILL BUY OIKOS GREEK YOGURT THAT IS CERTIFIED ORGANIC AND IS DISTRIBUTED BY STONEYFIELD.

I just Googled this as well after downing my very first...the blueberry flavour. I've had yogurt before and I've tried lots of brands and kinds and this, seriously, is THE best I've ever tried.

It's better than ice cream, pudding AND sex...combined. Or separately...depending on your "tastes". ;)

This yogurt taste great and has the protein I am looking for. As stated I live in Pa. and I shop at Giant where it cost 1.15 each and it is on sale for 1.00 each this week. I compare this to Icelandic Skyr which is also tasty but cost the unfortunate price of 2.99 each for a 6 oz. container!

I'm always watching my diet and trying to eat right. So when I went looking for a healthier yogurt and stumbled upon Chobani, I found a new love-affair ! I'm in heaven ! I just had the Cobani Strawberry non-fat for the first time and it's like no other !! I don't think I'd ever go back to any other yogurt again !

I discovered this yogurt at Whole Foods (Denver) and it is the best I have ever had. But Whole Foods sells it for $1.69 per 6 oz. container, which I can't afford on a regular basis. I asked my local Vitamin Cottage to bring it in and they get it for $10.50 per case. It's all I will eat now. YUM!

I love this yogurt and the recipes are unlimited. Check out their web site and Hungry Girl.com. Look for the best buy at Stop and Shop in NY 4 for 5.00 or even less.
